The fixed mindset and the growth mindset

How do you make sure that you are better able to change your personal situation?

Carol Dweck, a researcher at Stanford, has been working for more than 30 years with the question of  “why some people succeed and others do not.”

The answer appears very simple: The way they approach life and the behavior that derives from that approach distinguishes the success of the rest.

The fixed mindset and the growth mindset

There are two types of life approach: the ‘fixed mindset’ and the ‘growth mindset’. The fixed mindset assumes that our character, our intelligence and our creativity are static and that we can not change it in a meaningful way. Success stems from the eyes of people with a fixed mindset from intelligence, so if you were smart, you are automatically successful. People with a fixed mindset do not pursue success. They prefer to avoid failure, then they feel smart.

Then the growth mindset. People who are blessed with this do not fail to prove as a lack of intelligence, but as a springboard for growth and the expansion of existing capacities. Companies that make room for a growth mindset and use this way of thinking having a more positive working atmosphere and make more profit, according to research from Harvard Business Review.

Anyone who has a growth mindset can achieve almost anything simply because he does not let himself down by the chance of setbacks or failures.

Anyone who has a growth mindset can achieve almost anything simply because he does not let himself down by the chance of setbacks or failures. In other words, he just does it and is willing to learn, which ultimately ends up with more success than someone with a fixed mindset.

The latter will argue in advance: “I do not have public speaking talents, so I will not start it.”

By doing these things

You make sure that you convert your fixed mindset into a growth mindset

1. Begin to see life as a compilation of mini-experiments, and believe that too

This also allows you to reach your goal, even if it does not work right away. Failure does not exist anymore, learn and grow well.

2. Do not aim for perfection but for improvement

It’s not about being the best in something, it’s about enjoying the ride and learning of the people and things that come in your way. This makes it easier for you to keep up with it.

3. Get out of your comfort zone

Growth and comfort can not come together. Try to put your own reserves on a daily basis. Overcome your resentment or fear. Only so can you grow and grow your confidence as well.
